Free Patterns on the web!
Blogging 101
I have been blogging for almost a year now. I have found it to be a very rewarding experience as well as a lot of fun.
I thought I would give everyone a few very basic guidelines and some simple rules for posting to the Prayer Ministry Blog.
- Since this is a public blog and it is accessible to everyone surfing the Internet please refrain from using last names or any private information such as address and phone numbers in post or comments.
- Most bloggers will refer to family members with either initials such as:
DD (Dear Daughter)
DH (Dear Husband)
DS (Dear Son)
Or other bloggers make up fun nick names for their spouse and children.
- If you would like to share about your experiences participating in this ministry please be aware to only share about your experiences, and not someone else’s.
- It is perfectly acceptable to give a very brief retelling about a report you may have received from a pray shawl recipient. The guidelines for this are a bit stricter. Since the lives of the recipients and their circumstances are confidential you may share that you had a card from a recipient, but please do not share any details about the circumstances of that person or their name or any other details about their situation. You may share your observations “they really loved the prayer shawl and were very grateful to receive it….. and ask me to tell all of you thank you!” kind of thing. Just remember….
- No names
- No places
- Or circumstances
- Lastly have fun with it. Post pictures of completed projects, if you find a really great web site with lots of fun patterns pass that on or if you just want to pass on a funny story we would all love to hear it.
Well that's the long and short of it for now.
If you have any questions or if you think of something that I did not touch on something or if some of the finer points need to be clarified please call me on the phone or send me an email.
If you have any basic blogging questions such as
how to post,
how to upload a picture or video,
how to place a link in the body of your post,
what labels are…
just give me a call and I can talk you thought it!
Now get blogging.
Blessings
Robin

Meeting Update
What a wonderful evening in The Parlor! Every thing was clicking and every one was excited.
New Shawls and Afghans: The evening opened with prayers over the new shawls and afghans that were completed. Through our prayers, God fills these items with His spirit so they become physical expressions of His love. It’s such a blessing to have the talent to turn fiber into a gift of joy for someone in need.
New Members: Three new members were in attendance last night and are on the membership list. Please welcome Linda, Susan, and Ellen. Linda and Susan crochet and Ellen knits. Ellen is a prior recipient of a Prayer Shawl. It was wonderful to see Carleen, the person who made Ellen’s shawl, and Ellen meet last night for the first time.
New Patterns: If your creative juices need a boost, new patterns are available in the yellow packet in the yarn bin. Ellen brought in three completed baby hats that are knitted and look like little ski hats. She also talked about having the yarn and patterns for hats made out of fuzzy yarn that looks like hair for people going through chemo. She no doubt would share the hat patterns with any one who is interested.
New Yarn: Whitney brought in additional yarn that has been donated to our ministry. Much of the yarn is Softee Baby yarn, so if making baby hats is of interest to you, we have several skeins now.
New Blog: Robin has the Wednesdays in The Parlor blog site up and it looks great. If you haven’t visited it, or haven’t received your invitation to it, please e-mail Robin. You’ll enjoy the quote of the day, the pictures of the shawls, and the posts. It’s a great way to keep in touch with other members.
New Year: 2009 has gotten off to a great start. We’re blessed to be touching so many lives with our efforts – both those in need and those of us providing service. We continue to think of more ways to touch lives. Keep your heart open to God’s voice for other ways we can serve.
Blessings,

I love Wednesdays in The Parlor
His love is wrapped around them. I would be crocheting in my spare time any way. God gave me a reason to do what I enjoy and spread His love. What could be better!
