Meeting Update February 11th

Blessings Abound: What a blessing Wednesday was! Lisa opened with a prayer thanking God for the talent he has given each of us to be his hands and feet. We had a great group of women excited about the projects they were working on for those in need of God’s love and healing powers. It’s also encouraging to learn from other members. The sharing of ideas and knowledge is one of God’s gifts to the members. New projects were turned in that were beautiful and different than others we’ve received. Keep up the great work.

Ash Wednesday: February 25th is Ash Wednesday. While the Parlor will still be reserved for the Prayer Shawl Ministry from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, there will not be an official meeting to allow members to go to the Ash Wednesday service at 6:30. However, any one wishing to spend time in the Parlor is welcome.

Special Project: We agreed to create a layette for Allen and Aneta for their new baby due in a couple of months. This is a project over and above our normal Prayer Shawl Ministry projects which are created for those in need due to an illness, grief, or similar situation. Their situation is one of joy and celebration so what we create will come from us as a group. The gifts will not have the Prayer Shawl Ministry tags on them, but will have our love and God’s hand on them.

In order to make items, we are trying to find out if they know if they are having a boy or a girl, especially since they have children already. We may also want to consider making a small gift for the young children they have so they feel included. Talking about this project in more detail on Wednesday will also give us a chance to avoid duplication of gifts.

Opportunity: Lisa said we have an opportunity to speak at the various services about what being a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry means to us. We’ve grown by getting information out about whom we are and what we do. This is another opportunity to get the word out. We now have members who are part of our group who were first recipients of Prayer Shawls and are now contributors. This is another topic to be discussed on Wednesday. I will volunteer to speak at a service and that’s definitely out of my comfort zone! We have an awesome Ministry! Let’s share it.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Love and Blessings,

Beverly
