Even the chill in the air couldn’t keep the warmth out of The Parlor last night. Robin opened with a prayer last night to get us started on the right foot.
Blessings: We were blessed with two new members who want to learn to crochet. Welcome to Lesley and Tisha. Tisha threw us a curve because she is left-handed so we scrambled to learn how to crochet left-handed.
More Blessings: We were blessed with 11 afghans and prayer shawls to apply tags to and pray over. Our prayers are a wonderful way to introduce new members to our group because it’s such a moving, powerful experience which shows how strongly we feel about God’s role in the talent he has given us and what we provide. The Prayer Shawl cabinet is full now, but according to Rev. Sheri, it won’t be for long. We have also received more donations of yarn. Ladies, we have a lot of work to do!
Word Gets Around: Did you know the Prayer Shawl Ministry has a page on the church website? If you go to FUMC and click on the Ministries tab, then click on Congregational Care, you will see a line that says Prayer Balnkets and Prayer Shawls. Click on that link and you will see information about our group with pictures.
In addition, there are flyers in the elevator and on bulletin boards around the church with information about the Prayer Shawl Ministry. I’m not sure who to thank for all of the hard work and effort, but keep up the good work because it’s helping!
Thanks to Robin, the blog site is being used more and more. If you want to see the new Prayer shawls and afghans we added last night, The new pictures are already posted.
Congratulations: Please wish a very happy birthday this month to Susan, Carole, and Carleen.
Ash Wednesday: February 25th is Ash Wednesday. The church service is at 6:30 which is the same time as our normal meeting. Many plan to attend the service instead of the Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting so we should probably discuss the viability of holding a meeting on that date next week.
Food Drive: When you are able, remember the can of food for the Lawrenceville Co-Op each week. Robin is delivering our contributions for us.
Blessings
Beverly
