Shared Blessings

Reverend Hoskyn made a point on Sunday of expressing his appreciation for the love shown to his family after the birth of their baby girl. As Dee and I were walking out and shaking hands with him after the service, Dee asked if he had received the baby blanket and the two fleece blankets for the boys. His face broke into a huge smile and he beamed with gratitude. He said that their three year old son had not put his fleece blanket down since he received it! The other two blankets were greatly appreciated also.

Thanks be to God for letting us be His hands and feet again. Enough said!

Love and blessings,

Beverly

April 15th Update

The “Chicks with Sticks” were clicking along last night. We started by labeling the completed afghans and shawls while we shared stories and ideas. What a great fellowship this ministry brings as we encourage each other in our faith. God is good to us!

Blessings: We have been given talents by God which bring us joy, peace, and blessings to return to God to use for His purposes. With His blessings and His spirit on each item we make, they become physical expressions of His love, strength, and comfort for the recipients. Reverend Sheri joined us last night as we prayed over the baby blanket and the completed shawls and afghans. Thank you, Sheri, for visiting us and adding your prayers to ours – please come again soon. The gifts are in gift bags, the card is signed, and Dana is taking them to Allen today.

Calendar: Mark your calendar for April 29th. Ellen is going to take about 30 minutes to teach us how to make “Cheery Chemo Caps”. The pattern for knitted and crocheted caps is attached. Please let me know if you have a problem printing these patterns so I can e-mail them in the body of an e-mail or copies will be available for you on the 29th.

The Parlor: We have The Parlor reserved from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM every Wednesday evening. Now that it is light later, please feel free to stay later and arrive earlier. The Wednesday evening dinners are over until August, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait until 6:00 or 6:30 to arrive. Several of us were there before 5:30 and had that much more time to talk and use our “sticks”.

Thanks again for all you do in the Prayer Shawl Ministry and for all of the love you put into the items you create.

Love and blessings,

Beverly

Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. Jeremiah 33:6

Reminders for the 15th

Hi Ladies,

Happy Easter! I hope you’ve had a beautiful, blessed Easter. God has truly blessed us with his gifts.

Meeting date: Our next meeting is April 15th at 6:30 in The Parlor and I hope to see all of your bright, beautiful faces there. When you come, please bring your completed projects so we can see where we stand on shawls, afghans, scarves, and lap robes. With spring in the air and summer following closely behind, many of us have vacation plans. This will allow us to make sure we have the cabinet in good shape for those in need. Lisa is going to bring additional labels for the completed projects so they can be applied and taken to the cabinet.

Lawrenceville Co-Op: Robin requested we bring birthday candles or birthday plates for the co-op this Wednesday based on a request she received from them. They try to make each child’s birthday special when they have a birthday by giving them a cake mix and a small gift when possible, but seldom have the candles or plates.

Baby blanket and card: The blanket for the new baby girl and their boys is ready to give to them on Wednesday. Please remember to sign the card between now and the 15th or come to the meeting on the 15th.

Between the yarn stash we have, ongoing projects, and the possibility of upcoming projects, we have a lot to do. As Mother Teresa said, “There are no great acts, only small acts done with great love”. We have a lot of love to share! See you Wednesday.

Love and blessings,

Beverly

It's done!

The baby blanket is done. The card will be in The Parlor in the 3rd drawer of the dresser for you to sign between now and the 15th. Please think of ways to get the blankets and the card to the family. See you soon.

Love and blessings,

Beverly

April 1st Update

Welcome: Please welcome our new members. Barbara joined us for the first time on Wednesday with crochet hook and yarn in hand. She also suggested we rename our group to “Chicks With Sticks” so we obviously have a new member with lots of ideas!

Jenny and Candice are going to join us soon. They’ve been referred to us by Lynn Robinette whom is also on our member list to encourage Jenny and Candice. Jenny and Candice are looking forward to learning to crochet and knit. We’re looking forward to meeting you both. Feel free to join us before the first week of May. We teach crochet or knitting whenever a person wants to learn.

An updated member list is attached since there have been several changes recently.

Congratulations: Please wish a very happy birthday to Shirley on April 6th and to Marilyn on April 26th. Both Shirley and Marilyn are fairly new members also. We’re blessed to have you in the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Baby Blanket: All of the squares for the baby blanket are done and sewn together. Thanks for the time and effort on the squares. The only thing left to do is to finish the edging. There will be a “congratulations” card for the Hoskyns in The Parlor in the 3rd drawer of the dresser prior to the 11:00 service this Sunday for anyone to sign who wishes to do so. It will be there until the 15th of April which is our next meeting date. At that point we can determine how best to get the baby blanket, and the fleece blankets for their sons, to them.

Shawls and Afghans: Wednesday evening we were blessed to have several shawls, afghans, and scarves to pray over before they go to the cabinet in the pastor’s office for delivery to those in need. Lisa indicated the cabinet is pretty full right now, and we have several more afghans nearing completion. This is a good time to work on scarves for the grace bags. It’s my understanding there is still a need for scarves to go in the bags.

However, it’s always a good idea to have prayer shawls and afghans made and stored. There are so many people in need now and God’s love cannot be shared enough!

Calendar Update: Since April 8th is in the middle of Spring Break, we will not meet Wednesday, the 8th. Please mark your calendar for April 15th and plan to join us in The Parlor. For those of you who haven’t been for a while, we would enjoy seeing you again.

Love and blessings,

Beverly
