March 11th Prayer Shawl Ministry Update

It was another wonderful night of blessings in The Parlor. Every Wednesday I think “this is the best Wednesday we’ve had so far”, only to have a better one the following week! Thank you for all you do to give glory to God.

Thank you card: Dana’s mother sent a beautiful thank you card for the Prayer blanket she received that had the just a “touch of orange” in it. She included a donation to purchase yarn so we can make another one to ease “the loneliness” for someone else in the future. What a wonderful gesture.

Hoskyn’s Update: We have two large squares and four small squares for the Hoskyn’s baby afghan. The fleece has been donated for the boy’s blankets. Lisa is going to finish the edges of the fleece blankets. Two of the remaining large squares are being worked on by Dana and Carleen, and Lisa is working on one of the small squares. A total of five large squares and twenty small squares are needed to complete the baby afghan. Good progress is being made on our project.

Baby Hats: It was decided a baby hat would be given to the each of the mothers of MOPS when they have their babies. The next delivery date is in May and we’re ready for that baby!

Special Donation: Teresa donated an afghan and a shawl that were her Grandmother’s to be given to someone else in need of God’s love and strength. God will know who will benefit from these items and make sure they go to loving hands. Thank you, Teresa.

New Member: You’ll notice in the e-mail list that we have a new member – Marilyn. She will be a contributing member for a while because she’s having hip surgery. As she recovers, we hope she’ll have an opportunity to join us and share her ideas with us. Please welcome Marilyn to our group.

Special Prayers: Please keep Sue and Don in your prayers.

Yarn, Yarn, and More Yarn: Thank you for sorting the yarn last night. We are blessed to have five bins of yarn to use for shawls, scarves, and afghans of all shapes and sizes. The yarn is beautiful, sorted by type, and by color. We even have a Christmas mix of reds and greens. There is a baby mix, baby yarn – lots of cream color. Please check the bins before you purchase yarn.

Yarn Inventory: Ellen has an inventory of the yarn that she’s going to put on a computer form and send to us via e-mail so we’ll know what’s available to use. With Robin’s creative touch, there are beautiful color combinations already put together.

Thanks to Davis’s sermon last week, it occurred to me why the Prayer Shawl Ministry is so calming and important to me. Davis said another word for Worship is therapeuo (if I remember right, that’s a Greek word). That word is the base word for therapy. This ministry is therapy and worship at the same time and a way to practice Agape love with the members of the Ministry and the recipients of our work. God has provided a wonderful opportunity for “such a time as this”.

Love and blessings,

Beverly

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:2
